The work package we prepare
One defined structural steel fabrication or erection work package. Confirm the member/lot boundary and whether processing, welding, specified NDT, coating handoff, delivery, site connections, survey or handover are included. Combined shop/site scope needs an agreed package boundary.
Structural and connection design, detailing design, lifting design, temporary stability design, welding qualification, NDT performance, coating testing and site certification are performed by the project-appointed parties. An ITP does not authorise erection, remove restraints or accept structural changes.
Documents that make the plan specific
Upload the files as they are. You do not need to extract clauses or rewrite them into a brief. Include the mandatory contractor form if you have one.
- Controlled steelwork drawings and member schedule
- Identify structural, shop or erection drawings, connection details, member marks and revisions.
- Steelwork specification and inspection basis
- Supply the adopted standards/editions, category where specified, welding/bolting/coating criteria and applicable coverage.
- Fabrication or erection procedures and interfaces
- Provide applicable approved welding procedures, erection/temporary stability documents, subcontractor boundaries and dossier expectations.
- Contractor quality requirements
- Include required ITP/record forms, inspection roles and any contractual hold/witness notices and release arrangements.
How requirements become checks and records
The sequence below explains the document workflow. It contains no engineering thresholds or completed inspection results.
| Work stage | What the ITP resolves | What the blank record captures later |
|---|---|---|
| Incoming steel and fabrication | Map physical identification to material evidence, processing and member marks. | Keep certificate/lot and piece-mark references connected through the fabrication records. |
| Connections and specified inspection | Use the actual connection details, approved procedure and stated visual/NDT or bolting requirements. | Record the joint/connection ID, actual observation, report and exception/recheck references. |
| Erection and handover | Reference approved support/stability documents, survey criteria and the agreed completion boundary. | Keep installed member marks, survey files, connection records and unresolved interface decisions traceable. |
What you receive
- A scoped ITP with inspection steps, methods, project criteria and source references, timing/frequency where supplied, responsibilities and the project control-point legend.
- Matching blank field records for the agreed checks, including actual observation, evidence, issue, recheck and sign-off fields.
- Excel, Word and PDF, with document control and specific open confirmations. Actual measurements, test results and signatures remain blank.
- Your supplied contractor form used where its format is required. Source documents and paid standards are not redistributed as part of the package.
If the documents are incomplete or conflict
For example, a member mark and material certificate may support a receiving check while an unspecified weld acceptance class or missing approved erection sequence remains an explicit project query. We do not infer bolt torque, NDT extent, survey tolerance or release authority from a public template.
Project document precedence and approved revisions control the plan. Drafting does not confer engineering approval, certify compliance or guarantee contractor acceptance.
